RUBIS once again rose to the challenge that the yuletide season presents for many less fortunate St. Lucians, by investing US$5,200 to provide fifty hampers. With the assistance from Rise Saint Lucia and 4×4 Trailfinders, Team St. Lucia successfully spread Christmas cheer, joy and hampers of hope in rural communities including Anse La Raye, Canaries and Soufriere.
Christmas 2023 marked the eighth year running that RUBIS has partnered with community organisations on a hamper drive to provide food and grocery items to persons to assist with the preparation of a hearty meal for Christmas. Fifty hampers and countless smiles were delivered on December 22nd, 2023, as Team RUBIS journeyed across the island, warming hearts and filling cupboards.
Tamika Celestin, RUBIS Assistant Accounts Executive, said giving back each year at Christmas was part of the Company’s mission. “This initiative brings joy to us and the many recipients of these hampers and always reminds us just how fortunate we are. We take our corporate social responsibility very seriously and take pride in putting smiles on people’s faces by filling those gaps where the needs are most dire. We hope to continue our hamper drive each year and to grow it into something bigger and better where we can reach even more people.”
Venus Cherry, chairman of Rise Saint Lucia, thanked RUBIS for their ongoing support of the Christmas Hamper Drive. “This is the third year in a row that RUBIS has worked with Rise Saint Lucia to ensure that less-fortunate members of our society can enjoy Christmas cheer with this donation of multiple food items. Very few companies here in St. Lucia show this type of appreciation for persons in need in this country, so it truly warms my heart to see RUBIS standing apart and making social responsibility part of their mission. We are grateful for the partnership and look forward to a continuing collaboration.”
Troy Philomon, President of 4×4 Trailfinders Club, noted that with a donation of ten hampers from RUBIS along with toys which went to many children, the Club marked its eighth consecutive annual food hamper drive to the inner communities. “We would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsor RUBIS for their unwavering support throughout the years”, Philomon said.
